#YearOfCalm: Cultivate a sense of wonder this April
Cultivate a sense of wonder with April's Mindful Living Calendar.
This month we invite you to slow down and truly be with the everyday gifts of your life. From getting curious about your feet to taking the scenic route, we hope you'll discover the ordinary beauty that surrounds you.
Here's a little inspiration from award-winning author, William Martin (it's parenting advice but we see it as practical wisdom for everyone):
“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.”
We love this quote because the practice of making the ordinary come alive is another way to practice mindfulness. When we look at life this way, we realize that there is already so much available to us.
