Calm & Visit Maine team up to explore the mindful magic of nature

Calm has partnered with Visit Maine to transport you to a sanctuary for the spirit and the senses, with a new collection of meditations, Sleep Stories, soundscapes, and more.

"I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order" - John Burroughs

At Calm, we embrace those words from the renowned American naturalist. We also know the profound truth behind them. There’s plentiful and powerful evidence of the well-being benefits of nature, from reducing stress and boosting mood to improving cognitive function and fostering a sense of belonging.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Visit Maine to help you pause and escape the demands of the day-to-day, while mindfully immersing in a wondrous world. Together, we’ve created a new collection of content—Forged by Nature: The Mindful Magic of Maine—which brings the great outdoors to life in a way that cultivates presence and peace, relaxation and rest.

Mainers have always felt these incredible impacts of nature. There’s a strong connection between Maine’s landscapes and the spirit of its people, a certain resilience and authenticity, a sense of calm and intentional slowness, and an ability to be simultaneously grounded and inspired.

Maybe that’s because the state is unique in its largely unspoiled terrain and natural beauty.

Maine is the most forested state in the U.S., with woods covering 89% of its land area. At the same time, it has more miles of shoreline than California (yes, really!!).

From rugged cliffs to white sand dunes, tranquil lakes to cascading waterfalls, there’s no shortage of perfect places to pause. Now, wherever you are, you can experience that too.

And get this: studies show that our brains and bodies respond positively to nature imagery and sounds, even if we’re stuck inside at our desks.

Here are the highlights of the collection:

💙 Wander your way to slumber in our new Sleep Story, “Tranquil Trails of Maine”

💙 Root yourself in presence with this forest visualization practice

💙 Find your quiet center by meditating on an iconic, timeless lighthouse

💙 Nurture deep relaxation with this symphonic soundscape of a remote forest at night

💙 Soothe your senses by listening to the rhythmic sounds of a working harbor
